I promote on May 01 per my sequence number, but have not received orders. Should I contact my HRC manager or simply be patient?

Per my sequence number, I promote May 01. I thought orders would be emailed April 20 or the following Monday, but have not yet received orders. Should I be contacting HRC or am I just impatient?

You're being impatient. It's very understandable, but you're jumping the gun.
Rarely have I seen promotion orders generated prior to the effective date. Usually they are generated the day of, or more commonly, a day or two after your effective date.
Additionally, HRC won't email you orders. HRC will generate them and send them through your HR channels. Nowadays, that means they will be available in IPPS-A on the effective date of your promotion and a copy will be uploaded into iPERMS.
Congrats!

Don't worry about when you actually see the Orders. Come 1 May, your rank will more than likely update to read CPT in the systems to include your pay. What will likely occur is when your unit receives your orders....if they get them before uploaded into your IPPS-A and iPerms.....you'll have a promotion ceremony shortly thereafter.
You know the orders are coming, so just pause, take a knee, drink from the canteen and know that very soon you'll be wearing Captain.
