You are a Veteran. Let it sink in. Just because you didn't deploy doesn't make any difference.

You laid your life on the line for 8 years, while a lot of people around you didn’t. You had the guts to join. I spent most of my career in peacetime, never being deployed anywhere. You filled an important gap. Even today, not everyone gets a combat tour. Those that fill the gap are just as much a Veteran as anyone else that served. Raise your head and be proud of your service and as an after-thought, give the one finger salute to anyone who puts you down.

You did your time. If you were ready and willing to go but the Army never asked you...no worries man. Getting shot at is highly overrated anyway.

Wrong, if you served or got injured while on duty you are a none combat veteran.

No. You signed the dotted line, raised your right hand and took the same oath I did. And just like me you went where they told you and did your job. You earned the title "Veteran." You should wear it proudly.

You're a veteran despite what you think about not being deployed.

I feel the same way 2.5 years in and discharged but honorable.
I don't feel like a vet, I feel like a flunky

You signed your name on the line. You swore to defend our country and the Constitution. You went to Basic. You learned how to be a Soldier. You learned your MOS. You served at your Base - YOU ARE A VETERAN.
