I served for 8 years and I never deployed. I don't feel like I earn the credit of veteran. Does anyone else feel that way?

I was required by the Battalion Comander to "interview" all of the soldiers in my Company that requested to not deploy. I found that ONE would have a severe hardship. Recommended that she did nort deploy "temporarily ". She remained stateside, remained in the Guard, finished school, and got commissioned in the Active US Army.

My opinion. Only MINE. were you deployable? If you were deployable, that counts. Not everyone deploys.

i served 10 years during the Cold War ..never deployed but did serve overseas 5 years...

Serving eight years and being an E-3 should not entitle you to being a veteran.

Your a vet, just not a combat vet.
