One time and I can date it because I was going to see “Apollo 13” later that evening, I stopped in a book store at the mall. This was the July 4th weekend and they had a US flag - a real flag – on a table like a table cloth. Grrrrrr………. And they had books and displays all over the table. I wasn’t going to say anything but when I got ready to leave, I did tell the clerk that it was an improper display of the flag. She bitched me out basically and told me that they could display the flag any way they liked.

Well! I wasn’t going to be bitched out by a clerk in a book store. So I got her name and the address to the district office. I sent a letter and they sent me an apology and $10 gift certificate which I tossed.

Cpl James Waycasie - The First Amendment protects your right to violate the Flag Code. Go for it. But some people want to follow the Code and honor the flag.

As a Christian, and I know all about the flag code, I am God first, my family, then my country. By a mixture of God and Country I feel It really does more to honor the flag. I would never burn, drop, spit or hurt the flag in anyway, but if I have to choose between God or country, well country will lose Sir. All my great Uncles were WW2 vets, all my older cousins fought in Vietnam, and my Dad was a Korean war Vet. My family has had a strong military presence dating before the Civil War. I love God and this nation. One Nation under God ( Which means a nation united and being led by God) shows the unity of God and Country which is all that the emblem I chose implies.
