I've seen Bald Eagles along the inter-coastal waterway between Virginia and North Carolina, and seen them along the Great River Road, along the Mississippi River, between Alton IL and Pere Marquette park. That picture does give me goosebumps, but, not in a spooky way.

Wow, Great photo! Eagles are such majestic animals. Growing up in Washington State, they were actually a fairly common sight...to the point that my Mom was afraid to let her little dog out without supervision because of the eagle that hung out nearby...but they never stop being beautiful and awe inspiring!

That's hilarious! Whether it's from how I was brought up or their beauty themselves I'm in complete awe anytime I see them!

I definitely am too, Alexan...especially since I live in Texas now, so it's become much more of an event.

Love it and it is an attention getter. Although Bald Eagles don't have the appeal they once did with me. My 2nd tour of duty was Adak, AK where Eagles outnumber people.

I've only seen one bald eagle outside of captivity and it was amazing. Does this picture give anyone else goosebumps?

I'm not sure if this is photoshopped or not, but it is haunting regardless.

As far as I know it isn't. The article said it was taken by an amateur photographer who happened to see it today while visiting the cemetery. Of all days for the photo to be taken makes it that much more symbolic being on Memorial Day.

I agree. The symbolism is amazing. Even freedom knows the cost.

It's a nice symbolism, he forgot to photoshop the eagle's shadow

SFC Maury Gonzalez if you look closely there does appear to be a shadow. Compare the ones on the neighboring stones and you should see what I'm talking about.
