I believe that the short answer is no. The Combat Action Badge is annotated as such in your 201 file. and the criteria for how it is awarded is slightly different from how a Combat Infantryman's Badge is awarded. It would be up to the Infantry Board to make a decision on equivalency and transfer of the award, and that is not about to happen any time soon.

No. A CAB is very different than a CIB. First you must earn the EIB as an infantryman, then be engaged in combat.

You don't need an EIB to be awarded a CIB. Totally different criteria.

Bad info, sir. You don't need to have an EIB to get the CIB. The EIB recognizes an Infantryman who has proven his expertise in the battle tasks of 11series. The CIB is for 11 or 18 series soldiers engaged in combat operations. This I know to be fact, as I have the former, but not the latter.

I would say no. Mainly because you were awarded that while in another MOS, and not 11B. CIBs are awarded to 11Series and 18 Series. The CAB is awarded to non- Infantry types, ie; support, field artillery, armored cavalry, MPs, etc.

NO, they earned the CAB, NOT the CIB, there is a lot more training involved in a CIB. A CAB is i was there.....kinda,

The criteria used to be different for the CIB and EFMB. When the CAB was created, the criteria for all 3 were made similar, except for the requirement to be a qualified 11B, in a Infantry coded position (MTOE) for the CIB, or a qualified medic (various MOSs, I believe) for the EFMB
The training involved is for the Expert Infantryman's Badge (EIB)

Training has little to do with the CIB, if you are in a Infantry unit you are an Infantryman, but you have to be in armed conflict with an Enemy Force to be qualified for CIB !

No. Additionally, and more importantly, if an 11B with a CIB reclasses to another MOS, he/she better not try to claim authorization for a CAB.

Or the first thing. Simply depending on how low drag the former grunt wanted to look. Just a matter of perspective.

As everyone else has said, absolutely not. And if the guy was smart, he'd just not wear his CAB at all either unless he felt like getting made fun of 24/7 about it.

You wear what you were awarded. Does one lose the right to wear a CIB if they reclasss to a non combat MOS? Ask yourself some questions.
Now to awards. One man's CIB is not another's. One man's CMB is not another's. One man's Bronze Star is not another's. At the Battle of the Bulge the German's didn't ask if you were Infantry or a cook when they shot at you and they were being shot at by both.
