If a soldier fails to show in proper PT GEAR, can you make them do prt in duty uniform?

Damn right I can.
And give them a U for not being in the proper uniform.
And counsel them for failing to have a clue.
Some things are inexcusable. This is one of them.
The true litmus is whether or not everyone else is in the correct uniform. Like my drill sergeant said way back when: "If everyone else is doing one thing, and you are doing something else, you might be wrong".

PV2 Aaron Bennett - There is always "that guy" who "forgot" that there is PT on the training schedule. I have little patience for it, because I know what it is when I see it.

SSG Gerald King
CW3 Bob Weitzeil - Same here Chief! We did PT in our regular fatigues with our combat boots. No special PT shoes or uniforms.

CW3 Bob Weitzeil - Same here. No special uniform and no special shoes. ALL running was in combat boots including PT tests.

The answer of "yes" is correct. If you look in FM 7-22, in the first sections of every type of exercise it list the uniforms that are permitted to conduct that exercise whether it's cd1 or a trail run. When in doubt, look at the FM!

SSG Ryan R - I guarantee you, if you were to conduct PRT at the proper pace as per the regulation, it will break you off. Have some MFT qualified conduct it.
