If you read Once an Eagle, you know the hero was up and down in permanent and temporary ranks based on the needs of the military...but you might not know that one of my personal heroes, Gen. Andrew Goodpaster (SACEUR) took a downgrade to 3- star rank to command his beloved West Point. If we had full mobilization or even partial mobilization, what about you?

lol, I am almost 58, fat, type II diabetic, and have bad knees. I would return as a private E-1 if there was some actual use for me and I was needed. I can't image what that could possibly be, but if they were that desperate, they needed my tired old ass, to hell with rank.

I am physically unable to bring the fire anymore. But I would haul bullets and beans all day long. If the military needed me and would have me, I would do whatever was asked of me. Clean the shitter, message runner for SDNCO, whatever; I don't care.

To me it doesn't matter the rank they give me, I am still a member in good standing of a certain un-nameable non-organized junior enlisted group.

No if you are over 50 years old, you would just be in the way, let the young bloods fight this one especially infantry.

Some of us know how to call for fire! Don't need to be young for that!

Don't need to be young to call in a fire mission! Besides I worked theater ops. I moved Brigades!

Still need your beans and bullets. I don't have to be able to kick doors, I can just make sure those guys can do their job with razor sharp efficiency.

I only left the Corps for my young family. I WOULD GLADLY redone my uniforms and serve. Though I would have to work back up to the three mile runs again.

I would (and could) go back in Active, downgrading to PFC (which I was at one time, lol), but I probably wouldn't have a home to come back to. I'll shoot for the Reserves or Guard to try to do my part.

If I was physically able I would still be in. Separated because of my injuries.

Yes, I already have done that.
I left the Army as E4, then later reenlisted into the Coast Guard as E3.
