They'd only have to rewrite AR 40-501 Standards of Medical Fitness

SSG (Join to see). No problem . . . AR 40-501 was based on American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 3rd Edition ( DSM-3 ) that has long since been superseded by DSM-5 that no longer classifies homosexuality and/or transgender people as mentally ill. AR 40-501 only needs to be updated to be more consistent with the evolution of medical diagnostic and treatment practice over many years. Warmest Regards, Sandy

The fact that this has not already happen is troubling indeed. AR 650-1 gets amended at the drop of the hat yet mental health codes stay outdated for decades. Something is wrong here.
