You can try, but the response will likely be that you will proceed unaccompanied for a year and leave your family where there is a support network for their needs. Korea is always one of the must fill billets.

If you requested the assignment through reenlistment, you can renegotiate your contract.
If you were placed on assignment by your branch manager, Korea is an unaccompanied tour and command sponsorship is granted by exception, not by default. Korea is frequently used for people with EFMP because you can leave for a year, reset your time on station and your family doesn't have to move.

You can ALWAYS request reassignment for anything to anywhere BUT you're not always gonna get what you want or need, it's what the ARMY needs and sometimes it does hurt when it comes to family. EFMP is a different channel and it will not delay/change your orders even if it was still pending a response from Korea - I know from personal experience.

I’d definitely call an explain your situation. Of course, they could tell you no an move you unaccompanied. The sooner you bring it up the better your outcome may be. If submitting a deletion 4187 make sure you have updated EFMP enrollment an attach that also.

I would say no to the reassignment. You’ll be unaccompanied but usually get station of choice for your next assignment.
