If I choose to be medically separated on the 18th of the month, will that create a debt as a result of overpayment?

I️ apologize sir. I️ elected to be medically separated on the 18th of next month. A friend told me that electing to be separated prior to the 20th causes a chance that I️ will create a debt as a result of overpayment. I’m trying to figure out if this has any validity and if so where the debt would becoming from so I️ can budget accordingly.

Okay. I adjusted the title for you. Maybe that will help you draw someone to answer the question.
It sounds like what your friend may be trying to tell you is that picking a separation date beyond mid-month might cause you to get paid for the whole month, rather than for just part of the month (and therefore, an overpayment). I'd contact the Finance office to seek clarification. Plus, if you get paid for the full month, rather than 18 days of the month, just don't spend the excess because the Army will want it back.
