I’m a prior service, my ETS date was December 14 2014. Is still have about a year of IRR time. I left the Army with an honorable discharge. My rank was E-5. If I enlist back into the Army will I maintain my rank? Thanks, Mike

As long as you are still in the IRR you will train your rank. If you go back into the same MOS and there is a need in that MOS for a Prior Service E5. In many cases prior service Soldiers re-enlist in new MOSs seeking a bonus or just looking for a change. In those cases you may have to drop a rank to be eligible to return to the line but quickly after training and reporting to your unit you are promoted back up. You’re local recruiter can explain all the different options and provide you with the best info to make the right decision moving forward. If you plan to go NG, see a NG recruiter and not a USAREC recruiter since they will know better how there specific state requirements are at the time.

Normally the longer you are out, the lower in rank you come in as. Not sure if it was at 2 or 3 years out, you started dropping- recruiter would know for sure.

Probably but only way to find out is to go talk with a recruiter but your chances are high of retaining it since you weren't out that long.
