If I resign my commission can I get it back again?

If I resign my commission and enlist would I be able to take my commission back latter on in my career? I am looking to resign my commission and enlist to active duty. Would I be able to get my commission back once I am active duty or sometime latter in my career?

I have been asked for more detail. SO this will sound like a dumb idea to some. I left the Army as an O2 31A (1st LT MP officer) about 5 years ago. I have been working with a reserve recruiter to get back in as an O2 31A in the reserves. After working on this for over a year now I have been told I am looking at another 16-24 months in order to get my security clearance back. I can not get back in until that comes back. I will turn 40 this year and want to get back in the military before my body is to broken, so that means I need to get this done sooner then later. So I have started talking with an Active Duty recruiter to get back in. They have told me I can only go back in as an E4-E5. I am ok with this at this time. My ultimate goal will be to get back in and work a way to take my commission back and be an active duty officer. Is it possible to take back my commission or is that I pipe dream?

Did you ever go through and give up your commission and become enlisted? Asking for my fiance who wants to do the same, he's an O-3.

Believe !e, ifmyoive got a commission, trust mez you don't give it up all that quick, honest...I could tell you my whole saga to explain, it'd just take 10 urs...so, trust me, don't be in such an Almighty hurry to give it up, of you'd need to redirect. Maybe I or others Jere could suggest other ways, trust !e, as I'd said, that's major, honest, so indulge !e, elaborate, OK?

I'm !merely trying to suggest alternatives to him, that he !right not have considered thus far...I'm sorry if my explanation got too convoluted, sorry also for the typos, my tablet here isn't that great, the keyboard and spell check are clumsy, plus, my eyes aren't the greatest at times...I've seen enough that I just thought I'd be able to suggest such possible alternatives, if you'd want !e to elaborate in a clearer fashion, I'd certainly be most willing, I know !y thoughts can get more than a trifle convoluted on occasion, I've just been around a good many bureaucratic blocks, which is why I tend, of found, to know about such things, even though my explanations might tend to get fairly involved at times, I do realize that, honest, sorry for any confusion....

Wait a !unite...I'm just trying to wrap my head around that one, OK? What reason? What field? What svc? Why? With what object in !Ind? It'd really help if you really elaborated on that one, if it's a !after of career field stuff, that might be handled in other ways...of it:s a school!thing, I might suggest other ways for that as well...believe !e, giving up a commission isn't a ligtpht thing, I assure you, I !au not have seen everything, however, I've been around the block enough to know that much, that:s huge, that:s major...so, indulge !e, if you will, and at least try to elaborate so far as possible, OK? I'm only saying that, as that:s a pretty precipitous step, there could be other avenues to achieve what you're seeking without resorting to tat, honest, OK? I'd really be most eager to hear more, I have an interest in such things, ifmyoudmcaremto chat further, idmbe most eager to hear more, as I'd said, OK?
