With the way tattoo policies change like the seasons, I'd not get one until you retire, and then get one to celebrate your career.

Excellent advise, I agree 100%. Tattoos have been used as discriminators on promotion boards etc. Symbols that are alright today May not be alright tomorrow, look at the OK sign, some poor smoo was fired because his hand was hanging out a company truck making an OK sign. You may think that keltic ring would look cool around the top of your biceps then some jerk associates it with some Ayran brotherhood gang etc. Regulations change so what is OK today might not be ok tomorrow. While political correctness irritates the hell out of me just be aware it can effect you.

MGen Smedley Butler had a USMC emblem that covered his chest. That was 100 years ago, plus he had 2 MOH and a Brevet Medal, so it won't hurt to ask. Sometimes it's better to ask permission than beg forgiveness.
