I would ask him how he is holding up, now that he's home.

My first questions would pertain to his welfare as well. But, sooner or later we HAVE to discuss what happened during his "disappearance" in Afghanistan and what happened during his "captivity". Let's finally get to the bottom of this mess and get to the truth.

All of you pretty funny. I would ask him when he is going to catch up on all of the stuff he missed. EO, SHARP, SSD-1, 2 and 3 and CLS to get recertified. I would also ask him when he plans on doing a PT test and weapons qualification so he can be current. Then again he might just pop smoke the night before he is supposed to start anything. Also have him go through and redo SERE 100 he might be able to learn something which I doubt.

Could you imagine how many SHARP, EO, and Suicide Awarness classes he has to make up?! He'll probably make SGM before he has time to complete them all...

You might be right which is sad to say. While he is just sitting around the hospital might as well get him started on these classes.

Withholding judgement, I'd ask him if he left his post willingly and why.

hello 2nd lui, as an officer i am surprised at your point of view can there ever be a reason to leave your post in the middle of the night, sorry sir but in every military rule book whether it be army navy af or marine desertion during times of war are a crime no excuse can be given or accepted, we were just lucky more soldiers didnt die looking for him

You're right, desertion during wartime is a crime worthy of punishment. What I am saying is I wouldn't immediately jump to the conclusion that it was, in fact, desertion. Perhaps he got kidnapped or some other reason. You're operating under the assumption that he was already tried and convicted of the crime. Everyone deserves their day in court and I prefer not to condemn the man until all the facts are laid out. If he's convicted, fine, he deserves his punishment.

I don't think I would ask him anything until he owns up to/admits to whatever it was that led to his capture and the deaths of 6 men. He should have to explain himself. I say don't verify him, until he is tried.

You got a point there, because anything he says here can be used against him

I would ask him why he bothered to join in the first place, then id ask him what he would say to the parents and families of the brave soldiers that did their duty and died trying to save him as he is being led to a firing squad, there is never any excuse for being a coward a deserter and a traitor

I am first and foremost an investigator, a seeker of facts. Therefore, I would ask him to fill out the "View Questionnaire" and then drill the hell out of him. For those of you who do not know what the "View Questionnaire" is, please look it up on line. We have used it for years now and it's a great Investigative Tool to get at the truth of what actually happened in all kinds of situations and circumstances. My personal opinion is that this questionnaire is much more reliable then any polygraph going. By the way, the US Army has been using it for years.

Because he will always maintain his innocence no matter what. If he truly believes he is innocent of any crimes against our Country, which he does, let him take that Questionnaire. That will put him in his place one and for all. I have had several people that have been convicted of homicide that always maintained that they were innocent and who have eventually taken the Questionnaire and time and time again, the results of that Questionnaire has proven that they are truly guilty and belong in prison. It's a wake up call! It's just another nail in their coffin.

I think he would have a hard time getting anyone to ask or tell him anything. People generally take out the trash, not talk to it!

I know our system says Innocent till proven Guilty, however in this case I'm guilty of believing just the opposite and his innocense has to be proven to me. Till then, I wouldn't have a damn thing to say to him in public...plus I would be pissed if he had access to a computer while locked up and awaitting his court martial.
