If someone asked what could you have done differently in your military career, what would you have chosen?

Take back two minutes.

Turned down OCS after scoring high on the tests. No regrets, a 19/20 year old 2LT in Vietnam.

Probably gone for 4 years and a Germany post, then used my GI Bill immediately after getting out. I took things too casually and took my time.

Although things did turn out pretty well and I'm happy with it all now, I could have been a *bit* more ahead of the curve and looking at retiring in 10 years instead of 15 like I am now.

Never use KL-43 key tape as a bookmark. Even IF it is left in a secure location.

ETS at the end of the first term(not reenlist for more) and just go to college and live wherever the hell I want rather than move 9 times in 14 years.

I would have reenlisted for a new MOS after the first 6 years or went in the Marines after 6 years.

I would have gone to A.A. School. I would have also applied as a warrant officer.

I would have stayed at OCS no matter the family issues!

Instead of going to a TRACON facility, I would have gone to the Nimitz.

Would have told branch to stuff it for my third consecutive tour in Korea. Even as a foreign area officer that doesn't do your career any favors.
