FIrst off you should be able to pass even if it’s 3 Miles. Stop doing the bear minimum.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, in the military needs to run and pass a PT. 2.13 mile ISN'T a mile stone that isn't impossible to do. When you can't run that little extra it means you are seriously out of shape and need to work on your strength and endurance. GOOD LUCK

What if you shot and get a score 185 but 3 or 4 out of the 50 rounds you used were duds, would it just be shoot better next time or would you asked for more rounds.

So when you go to the rifle range and the range master sets your targets at 429, 529, and 729 yards instead of 200, 300, and 500 yards we are suppose to tell you it ISN'T a mile stone that isn't impossible to do? When your "UNQ" prevents your promotion, we are suppose to tell you that it isn't impossible? When you get written up for your UNQ and assigned extra duties, we are suppose to tell you it isn't impossible? When the Marines that do shoot a qualifying score on the extended rifle range are awarded a lower rifle score that wrongly reduced their cutting score so they get passed over for promotion, telling you that you should shoot better will somehow right the wrongdoing committed by the range master for making your unit fire at targets a mere 0.13 miles farther away than regulations say the target should be placed? If you increase the 3 mile run time of everyone in your unit by 15%, what is that going to do to everyone's cutting score? Are your penalized Marines going to fair as well against non-penalized Marines when it comes time for promotion?

I think your assessment of the 2.13 mile APFT course and the consequences of this leadership failure are well off target. "No impact, no idea"

Measure it and show your chain of command proof. You need something more accurate and readable. Trust your chain of command to be reasonable. They have incentives to minimize pt failures.

If you are complaining about .13 mile to pass you are already a FAIL at this station. Because you were already huffing and puffing your way to the finish line. Maybe alittle less jerking off would help you keep the extra testosterone to have the strenght and pace to pass the damn thing. I was 49 when i took my las PTT Tes and i past it with flying colors. And had time to some a cigarette before the others made it to the finish line. Take your unadultarated sorry behind to the track and start running FOREST GUMP

Let's say you retirement check didn't come in would you call and complain or would you just suck it up because you should be saving enough to cover it and working another job after retirement. It's only 1 paycheck out of all those you ever receive should we just say suck it up BILL GATES and save more money.

Speaking of FAILS. Now that you belittled this PFC seeking guidance, perhaps you could offer words of wisdom to the Soldiers who were denied promotion because the extra 229 yards they were forced to run at the end of their 2 mile run added 15% on to their run time. Which in turn dropped their AFTP score resulting in far fewer promotion points.

A 20 y/o male PT stud that always scores 300 will have to cut over 50 second from his run time to score 100 on a 2.13 mile course. Anyone that would score less than 74 on a 2 mile course will only earn a 60 on the 2.13 mile course. Everyone slower than a 74 will simply fail the 2.13 mile run.

A 20 y/o male SPC/CPL that drops from 274 APFT score to a 260 APFT score will lose 24 promotion points. Thats like handing out a Meritorious Service Medal (25pts) to all his competition on the Jr Enlisted Promotion Board simple because they only ran 2 miles, while he ran 2.13 miles.

How does chastising this PFC or telling him to run faster address the leadership failures and all the consequences of their inability to accurately measure 2 miles?

Let’s just say he needs to get on the track and run. A little less junk food more work out etc etc. Like i said more effort less complaint. Perhaphs if he is looking for promotion that should be his motivstion to do something about it. If he has problems with running then maybe he should run more. I was a PFC once i know what is like not to di anything on time off. Out of the barracks and into the tracks. That is was wrong with todays generation of soldiers we are teaching them to comolaint to much. I failed plenty of PT TEST in my esrly years and had no choice but to get out there and run every day in order ti improve, not once i complained or blame anyone but me about it. Is called BE ALL YOU CAN BE. Take it serious and blame no one. To simple to do. After all that is what we all signed for.

Did your marathon clock stop at 13.5 miles or 13.63 miles? Did you lose any promotion points? Did it cost you a promotion or drop your name lower down on the PPRL?

When I was the Training NCO, and even as a Squad Leader, I always noted that the men who were most likely to fail were the same ones who asked what were the minimum numbers to pass on push-ups, sit-ups and 2 mile run. I always told them to shoot for the maximum.
If you shoot for the stars and only hit the moon you have made progress.

What needs to be stop is discriminate on the PT's test. When people talk about the standard than they need to follow the Regulations themselves. A good leader will take time out to prepare his people under his Commands by giving a pre-PT's test . They need to leave out let see who we can mess over and you the Failure of the PT test to kick someone out of the military. For example, a female Staff Sergeant was told she fail the two miles run but a Specialist Four female who came in behind her pass the Two miles run. That Staff Sergeant female was a lawyer, later on got commission to the rank of Capital, after going through Military Judiciary Training, she became Major in Rank. Those who lied about her PT's test pay the price

Seriously? If you were in combat trying to get away from artillery or gun fire, do you really think the enemy is going to show you mercy because you quit after 2 miles? Tell that to the Rangers that served in Somalia in 1993? If you can't handle. 13 miles you don't deserve to wear the uniform!
