To be clear, I'm not Anti Vax but I'm also not vaccinated. With all the immunizations and drugs the government has given us like anthrax, smallpox, doxycycline, mefloquine..etc. service members and Veterans are still concerned about the COVID-19 vaccine. Even after the FDA approved Pfizer, I was not planning on receiving the vaccine and would not have gotten it without being forced by the Military. Now that the pentagon mandated it, I obviously have no choice. I’m curious to hear other veteran/service members opinions are?

The military never misses an opportunity to remind me why retirement was the right call. No, I wouldn't get it until a regular vaccine (not an mRNA spike protein version) was fully through Phase 3 long term testing, which is the only way the FDA is supposed to grant full approval. Of the ones available in the USA, that is only the J&J product, and it's a LONG way from full Phase 3 testing completion. Of course, none of them can be because that phase takes three years to complete.
Which begs the question, how could any of the vaccines receive full FDA approval based on science rather than politics?

SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) - You don't remember the SARS scare from 2002 - 2004?

Also, while flu was much rarer (because so many people were masking, maintaining distances, etc), it still occurred https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

SGT Lori Adams - I don't remember "men" having a meeting and all agreeing to take Viagra. Must have missed that one... but broad brushes aside, nobody has ever been required by law to take Viagra, so I guess that was just an irrelevant misandrist flame.
Presonally, I have taken the vaccine, both steps. At this point, there is no real justification for forcing people to take booster after booster, and the fact that the vaccine is only effected for a few months affects the risk:reward ratio a fair bit. I am adamantly opposed to forcing people to take a medication that is no universally accepted and has not had time to go through the full screening process. The only reason there isn't more open opposition is because people who publicly even question the vaccines or suggest there are viable alternatives are shut down hard.

SPC Stiv ChenRobbins But it did go thru the full screening process. It has to. And the military routinely forces it members to take shit that probably isn’t universally accepted - thinking Anthrax.

The viagra comment as you must have missed was about how it was also quickly developed but we don’t seem to here any bitching about that. No one seems to care about the long term health effects of viagra. Seems a bit of a double standard.

I was one of the first to be vaccinated, and did so not just for myself, but for society as a whole. It's my view that those who won't get vaccinated are not concerned about their fellow citizens.

At least now you won't be forced to see both sides of the issues, and can honestly say that everyone whose posts you see agrees with you.

SSgt Tracy Kawasaki - I salute you Sir! You show your humanity and give a damn about your fellow man. I did the same as you and not only because I am immune compromised and work with the homeless population, but because I actually saw no downside to it. As I said, I get the flu vaccine every year and have gotten vaccinated beginning at 5 years of age and never got sick as a kid. I wish with all the other shots I took that there would have been one for Agent Orange. Even though I have had a liver and kidney transplant resulting from exposure 15 years ago, I took the first vaccine in March of 2021 and followed with a Booster and a flu shot. Today I still am able to get in my cardio, do 100 pushups a day, lift a little iron 3 days a week and for all intents and purposes, feel great. Maybe I'm an outlier, I don't know, but I just don't get all the anger and vitriol. And like the man said, no one comes into my office without a mask and no one that is not vaccinated is welcome in my home. And that includes family. And no, it is not virtue signaling, whatever that is in political speak, I simply care about me, my wife and my fellow man. Some call that being sheeple. So Be It.

Hypothetically speaking: if I were back in service, I would have if it was coming from the top down. Granted now that most of us are out, we can make our own decisions, but while in service we were bound by our oath to abide by the orders of the officers appointed over us. The Military is not a democracy, we don’t get to pick and choose what to do or what not to do. We signed our names on the dotted line. Embrace the suck and get it done for battle ready status.

How does the vaccine protect those around you? Do you know how the vaccine works? In actuality, it only affords YOU a lesser disease course. It also allows you to enjoy asymptomatic spread and contributes to mutations (diseases mutate to naturally get around threats to their existence when that threat doesn’t eradicate them… which these vaccines do not). Sincerely, a practicing physician.

Capt Gregory Prickett - incorrect - we actually care deeply about others which is why we are demanding this be a personal choice. If the vaccine worked - which is is proving more and more to not only NOT work, but to be the actual reason people are now contracting variants - then you should not have to worry if my family does not get it. Out of the 12 I have buried recently - all were vaccinated and all died of blood clots, heart attacks, aneurisms, and breathing issues shortly after the second injection. my daughter's best friend at 16 has been to the ER now twice with heart issues after the shot. It should be as personal a choice as smoking or drinking.

Yes. I am retired and not mandated to get the vaccine. There isn't a valid reason for me not to be vaccinated. Folks go off about long term risks and go scarf down pre-workout and supplements that are not FDA approved. The small risk of a rare side effect is better than the much worse risk of having COVID and even if survived dealing with long term side effects. I have lost 5 family members to COVID and have roughly 12 that survived but they are all suffering from long term effects even the young.

Not an anti vaxxer as I have always had all my shots. I am an anti COVID vaccine. It is still in trials for safety and efficacy until May 2023. Not sure how FDA approved it without these mandatory trials. The vaccine may make you sick or give you long term disabilities. I also believe in “Freedom of choice”. With that freedom comes consequences. I would probably be discharged.

Read an article this morning that those being discharged are being given a dishonourable…. Is that too heavy handed? When did we become a nation of chickens or that any kind of noncompliance is seen As INTOLERABLE and must be exterminated by any means.

Also read this AM of a mother who had her parental rights taken from her and of a man jailed because they have not been vaccinated.

I read an article this morning that those in service are requesting waivers. Those waivers are being denied with no response or ability to appeal. This isn’t the military I retired from. The Biden WH, CDC and WHO do not make the vaccine mandatory for their personnel! Now the medical facilities want to deny medical care for the unvaccinated.

I need to stop reading…. LOL

Discrimination in any form is wrong. Change the word unvaccinated to “obese people”, “brown eyed” or “mentally challenged” and tell me it’s not discriminatory!!

TSgt John Brody - Anecdotal evidence is not evidence. If you can provide a link to any REAL evidence, like peer reviewed science journals or clinical reports from actual medical research, I will be happy to check it out. Until then, I don't waste my time on bullshit YouTube videos.

For clarity, I am not saying that there are no side effects, only that legitimate side effects are rare. Hint: someone who gets the vaccine and then is run over by a bus did NOT die from the vaccine.

Check out Bret Weinsteins podcast and videos. He interviews several 'experts' that you seem to require.
As to peer reviewed articles...I guess I could do some more digging. But really, is it needed? There is a ton of evidence that:
the vaccine doesn't prevent you from getting the disease.
It doesn't prevent you from spreading the disease.
It can make you ill or kill you.
Vitamin D is a great preventative.
Ivermectin within the first 48 hours reduces symptoms.
Hydroxy if you still have bad symptoms after a few days.
Wash your hands and keep your dirty fingers away from your face.
Eat healthy...avoid sugar and alcohol.
Comorbidities are KILLERS if you get the kung flu!
etc etc etc.

And I’m glad your gut is steering you correctly SSG. My heart breaks for the good people who just trust too much and do what they’re told, or forced into, believing “it’s all good”. But people need to first understand this IS NOT a vaccine and was never intended to be such. Vaccines are derived from the virus itself and attenuated, killed or live doses given to boost your own immune system when needed to fight that specific virus. These clotshot frankenjabs do nothing of the kind, will never attain herd immunity or protection from or spread of infection, and are experimental gene manipulation. If people did actual research to understand what this poison does to your cells and that it replicates and slowly embeds and damages your vital organs with micro clotting PERMANENTLY, among other things, and you can’t undo it, you would be PISSED at this deliberate PSYOP and lie forced on us. And we already have safe treatments for this known virus with 99.99% recovery rate. But its cheap and doesn’t bring in the $$$$$ for the elites. Anyone who thinks they can blindly trust the “medical community” does not understand it is mostly a “healthcare industry” and should learn the difference. Hospitals, big pharma, corrupt government do not give a damn about any of us. And they are making bank on all of this crap, at our expense. Two top FDA officials themselves just chose to step down rather than be any part of this horrific unethical overstepping of this administration coercing them into a wrongful premature “approval” of this dangerous shot. It’s disgusting and abhorrent what they are doing to our military and country and human race period.
And I say this all as a military, medical, LE and government professional who cares.
And BTW, the PCR testing is garbage too. Never intended as they’re using and cannot differentiate between cold and flu viruses, which is why they can so easily deceptively manipulate cv data and FEAR in their favor and people just keep doing it.

PO1 Devils Angeldoc yup. The rapids test isn't that accurate. We had guys test positive on it, did the PCR and tested negative, frequently. My big thing is I work for the government, both at the local level (sheriff's office) and federal (Army). I love my country, but I know how corrupt our government is. Not saying this isn't a real virus. It definitely is, but the shot in itself won't stop it. (Here comes the vaccine fan boys who'll yell "but it slows the spread"). There are treatments that help those with the virus that either don't get proper funding or exposure in the media because you know, agendas. Big Pharma and our Federal government isn't all of a sudden going to act with OUR best interest in mind. Why would they? They operate with impunity and nobody checks them. I would never trust the Biden/Harris administration, nor those they appointed. This winter is going to be cover for action for all the dumb shit they try and pass.

Also, for anyone who thinks troops that don't want the shot are somehow shitty soldiers, go fuck yourself. You can't judge someone's service to this nation based off of not wanting a shot that could still allow you to get the big bad virus that is so bad you should be so fearful and blindly trust the government, yet not bad enough to say oh yeah I got a shot so I could "return to normal" like shit was so great before covid hit.

Now that that the government is mandating it, I might not.
Mandating things breeds doubt and mistrust. Onstead of mandating it, stop the double speak, take the polititions out of it and show people the truth and the science.
Let people make educated decisions.
