If the unit I'm going to is already at NTC, and I'm going to be on rear detachment responsibilities, does that mean I won't deploy with them?

As a cw2 at the 7th Inf Div in the late 70's the 7th was the first Division to train at NTC. I ran the Division Main Warehouse. My Battalion Commander did not want me at NTC. I prepared the package and had it loaded in trailers by memory. The process of of determining the correct repair parts was weak so the Discom commander told LTC Hite to have Craig figure it out. We had a successful training session. 90 percent of the time the part or major assembly was in the package.

It is possible you won't deploy with them, but I have seen it work either way. If your readiness NCO is at NTC with the rest of the unit, this should be your first question when that person gets back. There are many reasons why you are not joining your unit at NTC such as they are almost done or don't want to pay for the travel. Neither which are sure measures of you deploying with them or not.

Also, the reason your not going is because they don’t send people to NTC/JRTC once the unit leaves.
