If you are an Army SSG and reclassify, do you have to go to another ALC for the MOS to which you are reclassified?

I retired in 2017 but I’d be willing to bet it hasn’t changed. The answer is no. The Army already paid to send you to that level of NCOES, you’re qualified at that level. Now, SHOULD they? That’s a different question...

Not sure if you HAVE to, but I do know that when I reclassed to 12B, we had a SSG reclassing with us that was coming over from the MP world. About 4 days prior to AIT graduation, he was given his cert of training and then sent to 12B ANCOC (ALC as it was known back then). Of course, this was back in 1996.

Short answer is no. However, depending on the MOS it may be in your best interest to do so if your gaining unit will send you.
