If you get a genuine "thanks for your service" from a random community member, what is an appropriate reply?

Seeing that we were routinely reminded of how stupid we are and being called all other manner of stuff, I think we just say, 'thank you'.

A warm felt thank you and drop it...
If it is more then a random person and they wish to start a conversation.. Im open.. but it's not something I "need" I know what I did, who I did it to and why I did it. I really don't need approve from anyone but the men that were beside me and myself.
But I understand, for some, it is heartfelt and in honest appreciation. I would never disallow or diminish that welcome offering of thanks.
