This was an old post here on RallyPoint, but it's still a great question today RP Members. Let's give it another shot for the new Connections out there!

If you were ask this question during an interview what would your answer be?

Let's get some real participation here for those active service members getting ready to transition, so they have this in their tool kit. This is just one of the top interview questions potential Employers could ask you.

Let's see what we can get from all the RallyPoint Membgers on this one!

What is that one key word that will make you stand out above the rest of the competition?

Think about it - this is a big question!

Flexible. I think employers view veterans as inflexible and hard-headed. They need to know we are willing to learn a new way of operating.

Persistent:
- I don't know it, but I am persistent therefore I will learning it. Just as I learn Italian as a 3rd language.
- When I do it wrong, I stay at work until I do it properly.
- I went through a medical board. I was persistent. 27 month later I got to stay in the Army.
- It is hard to do Graduate school, work full time, family, volunteer work and so on. But I am persistent. I graduated this month.
- I can't run because my back is broken. I can walk and swim. When I swim 3 miles (100 laps) I do it one at a time because I am persistent.
So many great STAR stories to tie with this one word. Always a pleasure to share and inspire.

I like this word and thought process because it describes my efforts with my project truck. It's taken me years of trial and error, not to mention enduring those who thought I'd lost my mind, in getting my pickup to increase it's highway fuel mileage to 24mpg. If I wasn't persistent, perhaps a nice way of saying "stubborn", it wouldn't have happened.
