This was an old post here on RallyPoint, but it's still a great question today RP Members. Let's give it another shot for the new Connections out there!

If you were ask this question during an interview what would your answer be?

Let's get some real participation here for those active service members getting ready to transition, so they have this in their tool kit. This is just one of the top interview questions potential Employers could ask you.

Let's see what we can get from all the RallyPoint Membgers on this one!

What is that one key word that will make you stand out above the rest of the competition?

Think about it - this is a big question!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - Actually, unemployed is my preferred status. I have a series of agricultural and art hobbies that somehow I have fooled people into paying me for the end products. I'd spend my days exactly the same if I made money or not.

Plus I married way above my station. My wife is one of the most competent people I've ever met. She wanted to start the career she couldn't as a Marine wife who moved every 2-3 years. She asked me if I would mind being the house husband, and I jumped on it like a dog on a bone. The only way I'd go back to work for someone else would be as a 2ndLt Rifle Platoon Commander.

Maj John Bell Awesome - I work out of the house too, so I guess you could say I'm in the same boat - I cook supper, wash the clothes, work on RP, Woor on Sponsor a Vet Life, and work at my regular job wihtout getting dress everyday!

Sir, after reading your additional comments, I find myself jealous of you being unemployable. I hope I am blessed to be as unemployable too.

A former boss of mine said I was "Intensely Meticulous"...the USAF screwed me up good, didn't they? LOL!

As a Fire Alarm inspector, my job is to insure people are notified if the worst happens, so I would go with the one word description of thorough, you can't do an inspection halfway, you are the guy they're gonna come gunning for if God forbid the building burns down and the system didn't work properly!

"Grizzled". Retired, ancient Cav pilot.
(I realize that this response isn't in the spirit of Col Burroughs question but couldn't let it pass.). As a former COO I appreciate the question and personally would look for responses that showed determination, self confidence, and team work. During my time "loyalty" would have been important also, but with today's mobile workforce...maybe not so much. To me knowledge & determined were most important.

If I was asked to use one word only to describe myself to a potential employer in an Interview My response with out hesitation would be Loyal
