Long distance the M1A is certainly the rifle to use but even now when I go on long trips with hotel stays, the SBR in the racquetball bag goes unnoticed when I take it in. One thing that is often not discussed in prepping is how other people will want what you have. I have a heavily modified Jeep and other than missing a snorkel, will go just about anywhere (sans rocks, not a rock climber). Downside to that, people will kill in desperate times to have what you have. The Walking Dead may be a bit far fetched, but people will act like in the show in desperate times.
