If you saw one of your Joes doing this, how would you react?

I went to basic with this SM and saw on his Facebook that he went to Prom in his ACU's. How would you go about mentoring one of your subordinates that are in violation of AR670-1?
AR670-1 Chapter 4 Section 3 Line 2... That's what I found in the reg, please attach anything else you find
**EDIT** This is not a Dance, but it is some Formal assembly and to the best of my knowledge he is not on Duty.. Class A's would of been appropriate (as long as it's in regs, which I'm sure isn't hard since he would only have 1 ribbon)

I think we don't know the real story here and are making guesses. Here is my guess. This is not a prom, but some sort of High School Royalty ceremony. The person in ACUs is a JROTC soldier, or perhaps Split Ops, and is in his duty uniform as appropriate for those days when his program allows that wear. He was probably called up after winning some level of High School "royalty" for the photo op.

Just going to pass to this off to the PSG. Sure you completed Basic and are proud of it, but there are more appropriate times, places, and ways to ahi off. Best way is to fill oh the 4856 and talk about good motivation but poor judgment.

I am going to put on my thinking cap here for a second. 1) Not think it's prom, 2 of the girls are in cheerleading outfits. I'm going out on limb this looks like the homecoming court presentation. 2) Homecoming probably means high school which probably equals JROTC, just saying. 3) really don't have a 3 but if this guy is AD then this weirdo needs to stop hanging out with children or there is going to be a scandal.

If you look even closer at his uniform he has no unit patch so he could be home for home town recruiting right after basic so he could actually be on duty in this pic and hif gf could've asked him to quickly swing pass the school for a picture. And just because she's still in high school doesn't mean she isn't 18 yet. Ask questions first then after you know the full situation decide what to do from there.

Well I went to basic with this kid and he's split op, so he's back for the whole school year... This photo is old, but was just sent to me

The fact that someone's panties are in such a twist about him wearing his uniform to the prom is crazy. There are bigger issues. He wasn't being drunk inappropriate a$$hole. I'm sure he doesn't know better. Be a mentor and correct him but for F$$k Sake does it require a public bashing.

I get that he is proud oh his uniform and what he does but that is so lame. I just don't understand why people wear their uniforms like that. To me it just screams, Look at me, I'm a soldier, tell me thank you for your service. I never wear mine for anything but drill nowadays and when it's over I take it off. I to am proud of my service but I don't flaunt it every chance I get either. I really don't want or care to have everyone know I'm in the army.

He's a new Soldier, obviously proud of his uniform, but lacking in knowledge. He may have day-dreamed through a red phase block of instruction. It happens. Vigorously correct him without public embarrassment, and he will be your personal advocate of proper attire for the rest of his career.

There is nothing wrong with this attendance. Don't look for something that is not there. Perhaps he is a member of a performance group, and was running late. Honestly, this is not any of our business.
