Im an 11x set to ship January, been hearing it a lot and don't know why. " You don't wanna be a 11c in the 75th". Why is that so?

I was always told, "You don't wanna be ...", or "You don't wanna go to ..." or "Never get stationed at ..."
It is what you make of it, not someone else's bad day.

SFC Ralph E Kelley when you have a stick you have to poke something. That bear just walked by.

Don't worry about that right now. Focus on the steps in front of you. Basic. AIT. Ranger School. RASP. Each assignment is what you make it. Just focus on the training ahead of you and don't worry/stress over shithouse rumor talk.

No sweat, GI, your chances of getting to 75th Ranger are slim!

From my understanding, 11X is either a basic Infantryman, or Mortar person. Perhaps the 75th is subject to repetitive deployments - I don't know. However, as SFC Ralph E Kelley stated, "It's what you make of it," like any other job.

It's your life. What I did was the incremental approach. National Guard Infantry first to see if I liked it, then Active Duty Infantry. Rangers was not for me for two reasons, flying all around the globe while exciting also means you give up even more of your family life. Two the physical fitness level and the work to maintain it for Ranger was not for me as it would have ate more into my personal time off. Also, with the physical fitness level we could be talking preliminary wear and tear on various body parts. Nice to be a Ranger but there are also costs. Nice to be Infantry but there are costs. Costs for Ranger are much higher.

" You don't wanna be a 11c in the 75th". Have any of the folks telling you this actually been an 11C in the 75th?

Elijah Rushing - The "downside" to 11 Charlie is all the extra stuff you pack. My first unit Enlisted used 81mm's, at least the 75th uses the much more sensible for Light Units 60mm.
I spent some Enlisted Time as an 11B10-C2 on M47 Dragon Anti-Tank Team, so I have some sympathy for troops carrying around big and awkward things. At least the "Chucks" didn't have a big sign on them telling everyone to shoot them if they fired their weapons.
M47 Dragon had a rather large signature when you launched, you still had to track the missile and the range wasn't near far enough to improve your survival rate. Luckily, I never had to fire it in Combat.

Everyone says that but from the guys I know in the 75th that are they love it. Whether you become an 11B or 11C or will work extremely hard and a lot will be expected of you. Do you currently have an option 40 or what?

No 40.. though from my understanding... they'll ask for volunteers near the end of osut. So I'll put in then, or a packet later

Just know that it is not a guarantee. They don’t always ask for volunteers. We had too many and people were dropping their option 40 contracts. Best of luck.Elijah Rushing

You should probably worry about actually getting in the army before thinking you’ll make it to regiment.

I’d assume it has something to do with mortarmen not kicking in doors.
But I would seriously check your source. Life in Ranger Regiment is not going to be like a normal Infantry unit and there will be plenty of chances to do cool stuff.
I’d worry more about getting to Bn.
But this is a good lesson to learn early. There are plenty of experts who will be more than willing to spout knowledge when they don’t know what the hell they are talking about

Makes a lot of sense... also... other than doing good in training.. is there anything I can do to increase odds of making bn

Elijah Rushing work on your fitness. Being able to make it through rasp is important and your fitness has to be there
