We were told that beginning Friday, immigrant (illegal or otherwise) will be housed in an unused Basic Training Starship barracks, with a chain link fence put up to keep them in here on Fort Sill. Anyone else out there told the same on other military post, bases, ports, etc?

Please tell me that you are joking SFC(P) (Join to see)' if that is true then it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

I see that this was posted 8 months ago. I hope you see this and reply as to if it actually happened.

SFC (Join to see) said it best that this type of action should be utilized on our own population, especially Veterans!

Yes, SSG Keith Fay, sure did. I and other DS's marched our soldiers past them everyday. They fenced off an empty starship and separate chow hall for these kids. They wrapped the fence in fabric and moved the wall lockers in front of all the windows so no one could see what was going on. Charted buses brought them in, workers were brought in every day. We fid manage to see them set up soccer nets and catch them playing soccer during the day. We got weekly updates on the situation to keep us updated on them. They are all gone now, but it was surreal for awhile watching it all go down.

It just truly baffles me how our Government is willing to help those outside of our country instead of those in need within our borders; especially those that have defended this Great Nation. It is SICKENING SFC(P) (Join to see). Thank You for answering with the follow up.

Impeach the poser giving the orders to use taxpayer dollars to house illegals while amnesty for 5 million of them is granted by his EO's. The majority of Americans do not want this. It sets a very bad precedent and will only encourage MORE illegal immigration.

A better use of those facilities would be to house disabled veterans.

Question - Is the base being used for free, long-term housing or is it being used as a "detention centre pending deportation decisions"?

If the former, everyone is entitled to be somewhat outraged at the US government showing compassion for children.

If the latter, then I don't see any problem.

The (p)Resident was going to grant amnesty by EO to approx 5 million folks. Realizing that it would stir the GOP to attack his policies and provide them with more ammo to oppose his initiatives (i.e., as in defunding DHS), he opted instead to go forward with his plan by directing Jeh Johnson to write a DHS memo.

Agree with his actions or not - you have to admit that it was pretty damn smart tactics to get the GOP to go all rabid and fly off the handle over something that was never done.

BTW the case law on "prosecutorial discretion" is going to make it almost impossible for the GOP to do anything about any decision not to charge anyone for a crime.

It's not quite the same as when the Justice Department concluded that there were no "prosecutable offences" committed against the "detainees" (meaning that there wasn't a hope in hell of getting a conviction because "national security interests" would prevent any evidence of wrong doing being presented [and not "the evidence clearly established that no criminal activity was committed as the GOP prefers to interpret it]) - but it's pretty close.

Most perceive his actions as an abuse of Executive Authority:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/12/11/fox-news-poll-obama-immigration-overreach-worry-about-checks-and-balances/

Sorry to those who refuse to regard anything FAUX News says. You don't have to like the messenger, to hear what they have to say. Was the poll an unscientific one or does it accurately represent a true cross section of our society and their response to the questions asked? THAT! is what you should be focused on. If you can't deal in truth, that's on you.

I know of similar arrangements being utilized at Joint Base San Antonio.

Here's what I know: According to my information this is as a result of a mission request from ICE / Border Patrol to FEMA for Mass Care and DOD for Housing under authority of the Homeland Security Act of '02. My understanding is the bills will be paid out from DHS / Border Patrol funding with exception of what is described as routine maintenance (i.e. - if a washer needs to be replaced on a faucet AKA normal wear and tear) which will be paid by the owning agency. I'm still unsure as to specific details on this - so please don't quote me. FEMA is currently handling the Mass Care function in Joint Base San Antonio through the Texas Baptist Men's Mobile Kitchen organization who are handling the feeding there. As of right now I don't know who's handling the Ft. Sill feeding - but I'm sure an organization similar (or maybe the same) to the Texas Baptist Mens Organization will assist there.

Since utilization of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 is different from utiization under the Stafford Act I am still working thru the details.

I have never heard of this. Are you saying they wont be able to leave once they are put in there?

And is it voluntary or mandated?

My understanding is these are children found within U.S. borders, most commonly on known "coyote" routes who have no parents visible / present when children are found. Most speak no english and most admit to being in the U.S. illegally. Other than that info - there's not much being released to my knowlege.

So, to answer your question: the children are there until a decision can be made on what to do with them - either their parents show up and claim them or a deportation order (or other order) is made. It is mandated - not volutary.

my idea would be the Mexican government let them in and then to cross their country that makes them mexicos problem. now all we need is a bus and a Mexican embassy.

I can pretty much hazard a guess as to what will be done with these children... We practically invited them here by putting ads in the paper for escorts. The Administration hopes to turn most of them into Democratic voting citizens.
