You may not see much news about it, but today is Four Chaplains Day. On Feb. 3, 1943 a German U-boat sunk the U.S.A.T. Dorchester in the arctic waters between Newfoundland and Greenland. During the panic four Army chaplains, all of different faiths, joined together to organize and calm the crew, sacrificing their own lives so that others would survive. Witnesses say that as the ship sank they saw the four men of faith praying together on deck.

Their story shows that bravery and courage are traits of all those who serve, no matter what faith, and that despite our different backgrounds we are all Americans.

I love that story. Thanks for sharing, Captain! I gave it a Thumbs Up, then took it away, just so I could do it again.

Chaplains certainly hold a nice warm place in my heart. We have our own here in CH (CPT) Heather Davis who goes out of her way to help, guide, and lead where she can. Thanks for the thumb.
