In preparation of the next level, would any leaders be willing to review my records to guide me in excelling in my career?

I sat on the 2014 Master Sergeant Board and your MOS was reviewed by my panel. I'd gladly take a look at your file. Just be aware that I am a brutally honest person so if you ask, accept what I say without any butt hurt.

Thank you, SGM! That's exactly what I want....BRUTAL HONESTY! Sugar coating doesn't help one bit!

If I was you, I'd get with your PS, 1SG, career counselor, talk first with people who know you, your career. That's what leadership is for.

Thank you, SGM! They are most definitely on my list. I would also like to get some input from leadership outside of my branch.

SFC (Join to see) - I've been out for a while, but if there is something I can do to help you, just ask.

As a 20 year Signaleer, I would recommend that you investigate doing something outside your MOS in order to diversify yourself. Back in the day, my promo points were 99never forever. When I finally made SSG, after almost killing myself with Army schools and civilian education, it only took me 2 years to be promoted to SFC(I was never an E-7.) while I was on Recruiting Duty. I wouldn't suggest Recruiting because it's the most unappreciated, hero to zero and back again duty. But search for an assignment that is challenging yet achievable. I always told my NCO's to set REALISTIC, ACHIEVABLE Goals! Just be happy that you deal with fiber instead of coax and 26 pair cables. Lastly, if you're married, always include Household 6 in any and all decisions.

I've been in long enough to deal with the transition from CX11230 and TFOCA to commercial fiber. I'm an Instructor now at an ITRO course at an Air Force training wing so I'm hoping that is viewed favorably during the next board.

Wow, mentioning CX-11230 made me realize exactly how much of a dinosaur I am. Thank you for that! Lmao. Instructor is an excellent way to diversify your resume. The last time I was getting my records ready for the E8 board, I had the Signal Corps and Fort Gordon CSM Mike Terry review my records. We'd known each other from Hawaii when he was SFC and I was SPC. The most important issue he drilled in my head was to make sure that all the copies of certificates you send in exactly match your ERB, dates and titles must match perfectly. I would suggest that you have a Senior NCO, whom you trust and respect, review your entire file prior to the board. Check the regulation see if there have been any changes of which you might not be aware. God Bless and Best of Luck to you in all your future endeavors.
