In your opinion, what is the most common violation of uniform regulations, and are you guilty of it from time to time?

Hands in pockets is I think one of the biggest ones. I was once asked about my hands in my pockets and thinking quickly on my feet I pulled out the challenge coin I had in one and said I was making sure which pocket I had put it in.

I was a HUGE offender for rolling my sleeves while in Iraq. Not all the way, just one roll of the cuff. I was nabbed so many times I started to roll them inside out so it looked kinda normal.

I rarely violated anything, that I'm aware of. At least nobody ever corrected me. I did however, have a Plt Leader Butter Bar who I would correct often. To the point where he got irritated with me one time and took me aside and asked me why I'm always correcting him. My answer was simple, because you're my Plt Leader and I don't want you to look like a ragbag. "you represent us and the Army, Sir". He thanked me and made an extra effort to be squared away from then on.

Hands in pockets was one I rarely saw.
What I was used to seeing most often was headgear violations. Wearing headgear indoors, not wearing it outdoors, and most often, just incorrect wearing.

Just a little humor. One day I had my uniform hanging on a locker while the unit did PT. When I returned from PT I was told the Brigade Commander was coming down to look around. I quickly showered and put on my uniform. As the Commander came up and talked to me he informed me my rank and branch was on the wrong side. (I was newly promoted, that is why I had the pin ons instead of them sewn on.) I was mortified and wondered to myself how I did that. About 2 weeks later a couple of NCOs came to me and started apologizing. They had seen my uniform and switched the rank and branch. They had no idea the commander was coming down.
They knew I was a little miffed but, I actually laughed about it. What are you going to do? They did see the Brigade Commander later and confessed.

I think the most common violation of uniform regulations that i may have commited once or twice was bing LATE "UA", but in my defense ah few trips to sand pit and extra duties cured me of that deficiency with a quickness lol

Troops contorting, scrunching, swooshing, pinching and Ranger rolling the patrol cap like a Civil War kepi cap is the most common violation of DA PAM 670-1. It's out of control with mid-career officers and NCOs who do it out of habit (a bad one at that) b/c uniform standards are dropped during deployments. Saggy/unbloused trousers is a close second and the two violations usually go hand-in-hand. It's a bad habit the force needs to address in BCT. Young troops mimic it because the "old man/sarge" does it and it looks cool. It's undisciplined and uniform violation.
