No words can describe it. Anything we put in writing about this man are a pale comparison to what he actually is.

Can't say enough good things about Corporal Carpenter. I've seen him on the late-night talk-shows. Watched is motivational speeches on YouTube. And after reading both his act of heroism and recovery, I am truly awed. This is one special young man. He speaks with reverence, professionalism, and humility. I heard him say, that although he is uncomfortable with the attention, he wears the CMH "for those who didn't return to tell their story." It's great to know that we have actually been witness to this man. Corporal Carpenter epitomizes our legacy.
