Here is a schedule of upcoming Defense Hearings and Nominations for The Jount Chiefs Of Staff.
While negotiations on the annual defense authorization and appropriations bills continue behind the scenes, lawmakers will host a full slate of military and foreign policy hearings this week as they wind down their summer session.

SGT (Join to see) I probably will follow in passing only. Too much work and family stuff to do. Any spare time is Reserve and RP 'play' time!

Understand that Sir. Your wife might be related to my wife. My wife thinks she's a General in charge of everything. Lol if you tell her I said that, I'll deny, deny, deny...

Let's hope they nominate/appoint the right person for the job and not a bunch of "yes men!"

LTC Stephen F., The only General I ever met was a cousin of my dad. Off subject, but, in Vietnam, we were in the field and a helicopter flys in. The CE found me and told me I was needed back at our base AO. I couldn't imaging what I had done now. Anyway I arrived, and went into the CO's tent. A General was standing there with a smile on his face. I snapped to and saluted. The General held out his hand to shake my hand. I didn't understand what was going on. Finally, he introduced himself and told me he was a cousin to my dad. My dad had asked him to check on me if he was ever in the area. I was still in awe of a General talking to me. We chatted a while then I went back to the field. After I returned, several buddies asked me what that was all about. I told them an Air Force General needed to talk to me about the war. I left it at that. I finally told them the truth, but they still didn't believe me. LOL

Wouldn't that make the General a distant cousin of yours as well?

Yes, it would, but we were pretty distant cousins. I never saw or heard from him again. He had some land three hours from here I hunted on, but I never saw him.

They have to walk a tightrope during confirmation hearings between the truth and avoiding their CINC telling them that the '80 are asking for their foreign policy back.

LTC John Shaw, When I saw Gen. Dunford give his top 4 security concern list to the Senate committee I thought, "That guy has guts".

SGT (Join to see), three of the current four star generals are old friends of mine who are trustworthy and courageous. I hope that the flag officers who are nominated to fill out the positions are trustworthy and courageous and have a clear sense of their duty and responsibility to the constitution as well as those elected and appointed people who are over them. THey will need to have a clear sense of their role and responsibilities as they navigate the frequently fine line of supporting the Services, advising the National Command Authority and executing the their duties to both.
Hopefully the Congressional committees having oversight will ask the right questions during confirmation hearings.
