42A school is a very hard demanding physical school. It will push you to the limits during your 25k road march in the blistering heat at Relaxing Jackson with a start time at 0330 in the morning.

Wait sorry wrong school lol. 42A school like everyone else has said just pay attention during class your AIT Platoon Sergeants will make sure you are squared away to start learning your mos. The real learning starts once you get to your unit besides the basic systems you learn at AIT you could end up in just about any unit on any base as a 42A.

But I thought you were going Airborne and Air assault and 11b... hmmm

I wanted to do 11b and I am going to airborne. My recruiter said I can do airborne and air assault after that. But he said I cant do Air assault right away.

Pay attention in class, take notes. Stay focused. Everything you need to be successful is in your training materials (handouts, regulations, PowerPoint and class participation). Go to the Army Publishing Directorate website, that's going to be your goto. Research, reading, speed, accuracy will be your strengths. Above all pay attention to details. One last note, forget about what you heard. The tools are there for you to be successful, use them. Update us when you complete your course!

42A is one of the easier AITs, its only 2 months long. Just make sure you pay attention to the classes and pass the tests. Our MOS is usually on the job training for most things. Youll have to do it to truly learn it.

I didn't find it difficult at all. I even tied with one of my battle buddies for the top grade in the class. His PT score was higher and he got honor grad. Nevertheless, I am proud that I did that well. I recommend just listening, taking notes and most importantly, paying attention to the regulations. If your instructor says something more than once, tuck it away in your memory for use later. Good luck!

Don’t stress over it too much. As long as you pay attention and focus you’ll do great. It’s not as complicated as people make it out to be. Good luck to you, I’m positive you’ll do great!!!

All of the tests, you’re able to use your notes. You will download all of the regulations and be able to use those also during the tests. CTL+F through notes/refs and you should be good. Also paying attention will help you complete the tests quicker of course.

The majority of tests in the Army are open book.
And as with all things military, attention to detail!

Johnathon Greer I ask that often. It's usually the lack of attention to detail and not listening to the instructors.

All you gotta remember is that no matter how hard it seems, it's not basic training, so you've already been through hell

Frankly, it's not classwork that gets people there. It's usually PT, doing something stupid, attitude, etc. Go there, pay attention to your work and your instructors, keep your ears open and ask questions if you have them.

SGT James LeFebvre - I heard a guy failed the same test two or three times and that's why he failed out.

The only way to fail AIT is to do the wrong thing, I enjoyed every day because I was able to stick to a routine and get better life skills tbh

Johnathon Greer my class had one guy that was reclassed due to repeatedly failing tests. But, he talked in class and was disruptive. He wasn't paying attention. Tests were open book for the most part. I don't think you can fail unless you don't put forth the effort and discipline.

they will do everything they can to help you pass. If you make it through basic, they already have a significant investment in you and it is in the Army's best interest that you succeed. Just pay attention in class and ask questions if you are confused or "don't get" something. Not to demean the MOS, but 42A is not rocket science.
