I was glad to read that this ridiculous military parade had been pushed back to 2019. In my opinion we shouldn't put ourselves in the same sentence as N.K or Russia with military parades. I prefer to speak softly and carry a big stick, these parades are just to stroke the ego of dictators/presidents/prime ministers it does nothing for the nation except waste tax payers money. Considering our infrastructure is in dire need of attention, it would make more sense to use these funds for that. But this is my opinion and I know some may think that this parade would do good for the nations morale and show the world our military strength( we shouldn't have to)

Regardless of the price tag- I'm interested in everyone's thoughts regarding if we feel this parade is something the Military would benefit from. Would our Nation benefit from it? Is it worth the money, time and effort? Just interested in the overall opinion of having it at all.
I saw a comment below stating its worth after a victory in a major conflict. How would we justify it without something like that?

Most of it's logistics and moving everything around. You ought to know beauracracy by now lol. They can calculate a sandwich to $1000.

SSG Jose M. Hernandezsanchez but you and I both know it will just get lost in the bureaucratic black hole that is the DoD and the government. At least just for once I'd know where it went. As of this morning, parade cancelled.

I would say it's only worth it immediately after we've just won a major conflict. Otherwise, I would say "No."

Is $92 million worth it for a parade?

Military parades where actually commonplace in America up until the Vietnam war. They even drove a nuclear capable missile through the streets for JFKs ingratiation military parade. So let's cut through the "only dictators in NK or Russia do this" BS

Military parades should be done on extraordinary occasions to commemorate significant achievements of our Armed Forces, not to satisfy someone’s ego.

MSG Mark Gomez, I as well question the need for a military parade. We already have the respect of the world and the general public, not sure what is gained from it. Pretty sure most SMs won't want to attend or be in it unless there is TDY or something good in it for them.

Who wants to be voluntold to march in a parade during their 72-96 hour liberty? Besides 3/4 of the Marine Corps will probably still be drunk from celebrating the Marine Corps birthday (Nov 10).

In the world we live in, where nothing is hidden from anyone, it may not be a bad idea for our enemies to see us stand in front of the mirror and flex a little. A country that looks able and eager to fight may be one they don't want to provoke. But like you said, this is just my opinion and I'm not necessarily sold on one position or another at this point.

MAJ (Join to see) respectfully, getting rid of mirrors, we’ve been standing in front of our enemies and flexing a lot. For many years.
While they don’t doubt our ability our willingness to fight, (in fact, they count on it), I think that we often underestimate those attributes in our adversaries. A parade won’t change either perception.

When Russia holds their parades, do they appear as a nation not to be provoked? Hardly. Secretary Mattis has often referenced that his biggest concern is making our military the most lethal end efficient fighting force it can possibly be. I think there are a lot of things that would better suit that end state than a grand parade.

Best of luck.

Look who calculated the price tag.We know it's about the hatred towards the current President. Now don't try to spin or lie about it or y'all would have stood up when the last jerk in the White House doubled our debt and made us weaker...
