I was glad to read that this ridiculous military parade had been pushed back to 2019. In my opinion we shouldn't put ourselves in the same sentence as N.K or Russia with military parades. I prefer to speak softly and carry a big stick, these parades are just to stroke the ego of dictators/presidents/prime ministers it does nothing for the nation except waste tax payers money. Considering our infrastructure is in dire need of attention, it would make more sense to use these funds for that. But this is my opinion and I know some may think that this parade would do good for the nations morale and show the world our military strength( we shouldn't have to)

Mattis has made it clear that these numbers are false. He is overseeing the budget for this. I believe his words were "someone is smoking something thats not legal in my state"

Gee, we shouldn't have to? Our Presidents have bowed to foreign leaders, 3rd world countries are threatening us with nukes, China is taking over the China sea. Over 1/2 of our USN and USAF don't work anymore or have been mothballed. Terrorist groups have run us around in circles. I still don't understand why it would cost anything, hell every large town in the South holds Veterans Day Parades with Military units participating (ours will be 99 yrs old) and it doesn't cost us a dime cause everyone donates to it. Are these parades like MOSCOW Square? I don't think so- I didn't plan on seeing Tanks, Arty, etc. and there is enough mil units around DC that they could march 10-15K troops down the street.

It is all for trump's ego, not necessary. Let's take care of homeless Vets and there are plenty of other Vet Programs that need funding.

I don't think this parade is just to tickle the fancy of those with big egos.... I believe this is an exercise that will require a lot of planning just to get everyone scheduled to be in the parade to the parade... feed those suckers and then get them back home with the least amount of blisters.... It's kinda important to find out if we can move all those troops and hardware into Washington at a moments notice... if we ever need to....

How is the cost of this parade determined. Is the cost that money which is spent above the salaries already being paid and the jeeps and airplanes already being flown... or is the cost determined by the money that was already earmarked for training.... or is this a totally new expense? I'm sorry there will be a parade. I agree with Sgt Adrian Jones.... No need for this in the U.S. Dang I think Eisenhower said the same thing...

Tough call really! It's can be used as a show of force to our countries that do it on an annual basis. If done right it could reserve other's aggression towards us as for cost it's not as relative given the bigger picture in our nations defense and defense spending. But it has to be done right!!!

I don't care how much it costs, a parade to stroke the President's ego at the expense of the troops is a terrible idea. How many people on here would voluntarily march in a parade comperable to the French Bastille Day parade? All the prep and BS that would be involved, no way.
