I think it offensive to say that any country is criticized for using its own name so as not to offend liberals and Muslim Terrorists. What is your take? Are we too sensitive about too many things?
Note: I do not care if other countries on different on other continents are American too! Re: Central America, South America. etc.

People that get so easily offended, offend me. The actually are so offensive that is cause me physical pain and if I become aware that they are offended I am going to sue them...not for everything they have...because that would be offensive...but only for my pain and suffering. Something like a 100 million?

I almost voted this question down because I am so offended to know that people on this glorious AMERICAN website are offended by the term AMERICAN. All things great and glorious in this world are labeled as AMERICAN. Need examples you say? Electricity. AMERICAN. The Automobile. AMERICAN. Planes. AMERICAN. Football (you know which one) AMERICAN. Peanut butter. AMERICAN. The internet. AMERICAN. Need I go on? THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES and the brave souls who proudly serve. AMERICAN.

I am offended by this question about offense. Also, whoever wrote that guide needs to get their head examined.

The fact that this is even a question just goes to show how far our society and culture has fallen and been stripped away over the years.

I am a citizen of the United States of America SSgt (Join to see). I was a dual citizen of England and the USA until I enlisted in 1974 when I elected to become a USA citizen and renounced my British citizenship.
I find it ironic when there are American's from the tip of Cape Horn in South America to the northernmost reaches of Canada, that some people in the USA myopically consider the USA to be the sole American country.
I refer to myself as a citizen of the USA not as an American which is akin to a citizen of Egypt talking about themselves as African first and Egyptian second or a citizen of Germany referring to themselves as European first and German second.
I had to pick "Wearing pants that fall to your knees is offensive" because that is offensive to me :-)

Racism is offensive.... saggy pants to your knees is offensive....America may be offensive to tree huggers and liberals that "hate it here".... to me, it is pride. IF someone asks me what I am, I am American. They have to clarify with the question of "what country/s are your family from..." before I answer German, English, Dutch, and otherwise Heinz 57 Mutt..... Personally, there are very few African Americans here in America..... almost NONE of them came from Africa. They may have originated there 5-10 generations ago..... but not in the last 1-2 generations. Mexican American, Asian American, etc should be the same way. If YOU or your parents directly immigrated (Legally I hope), you can then claim _____ American..... more then 2nd generation...you are American. Period. Wear it proudly.
