Is ISIL bringing Iran and the US closer together or further apart?

US and Iranian interests are, at the least, parallel in several Middle Eastern countries. Shared interests primarily deal with the defeat of ISIL in Iraq and Syria, in which Iran claims they are the main effort. We also have shared interest in preventing ISIL spreading into Lebanon. Are these shared interests resulting in the increase access and talks with Iran?

The enemy of my enemy...
However, in this case, I don't know that I would align myself w/ a country that is about as erratic as can be. Methinks the only reason Iran is concerned w/ ISIS is that THEY want to be in charge in the Middle East & ISIS threatens that notion.

The interests of the U.S. and Iran are as far apart as the interests of the U.S. and ISIS.
