Here is a petition where Muslims in Germany are asking to discontinue Oktoberfest as they claim it is an anti-Islamic event.
What are your thoughts?

Dumbest petition ever created. Alcohol offends you, don't drink. It's these type of Muslims that give the rest a bad name. Freaking ridiculous.

That is all fine and dandy. Blah! Blah! Fuck you and your no bacon eating, beer drinking ass. Go repress some women and tell the world how tolerant you are somewhere else. Now on to more important petitions for Oktoberfest.
I would like to petition Oktoberfest to actually be held in October! The one chance I had to go I put in my leave papers for October. Who the hell knew it was in September? Why would I need to Google Oktoberfest, it has October right in the title? I missed it. I had to drink crappy pilsner in Berlin and Prague instead! For this reason alone it should be held in October!

Petition all you like. Islamists are trying to change the culture of a nation to suit their personal desires. If they don't like what it happening, they are more than welcome to return to their country of origin.

"We understand that the Oktoberfest is a yearly German tradition, but we, Muslims, can not tolerate this Un-Islamic event, because it offends us and all Muslims on the earth. We are requesting the immediate cancellation of the upcoming Oktoberfest event"....I take it he personally flew to talk to every single Muslim on earth and asked them their personal concerns over Oktoberfest? For some odd reason if this person actually did so, I don't think he would've made it out alive of RC-anything, Helmand, Khost, or anywhere else short of Kabul in the Stan. I have not been to Iraq, but I'm sure the sentiments would be the same. In both of those countries the populace has much more to worry about in life issues than what someone drinks in another country. And his worrying about nudity? My terps were practicing Muslims and loved TnA like the next man, so I don't see his argument at all. It's a very poorly written and articulated request probably written by a troll to get something started that doesn't need to be.

No. Extremists sects within Islam are intolerant. Just like extremist sects within any other socio-economic grouping.

If you mean by intolerant you mean that where the majority of the population identifies themselves as Muslim and they control the reins of government, that they will fulfill the requirements of the Koran to (1) impose a tax on those who do not believe that Islam is the way; (2) that they will treat those people as second class citizens at best and slaves; and (3) where Wahhabi doctrine is prominent they will kill unbelievers or what they consider apostate Muslims - then yes I consider to be intolerant in the true sense of the word.
Tolerance only applies to what we disagree with. Islam "tolerates" unbelief when it is a tiny minority because the Koran instructs its followers to lie in such circumstances.
However, I submit that "intolerant" does not express the strength of the feeling that sincere Muslims have to those who do not subscribe to their faith.

There are sects within Islam that are intollerant. Most are not. This is an outlyer and will not be given an ear in Germany. Germany won't cancel Octoberfest. America won't cancel Thanksgiving. There are some things that a culture will not condone. When we said, "Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses," we also made it clear that America had a culture that you were expected to adjust to. We didn't say it, but it was there...and it was thunderous. Tiny segments of society that do not blend in with the culture around them are dangerous and will cause problems for society as a whole. There is room for multiple cultures, but the larger societal culture must be understood and worked within.

From the reports I've read, it seems that the Muslim communities as a whole in Europe are rebelling against the government of the host country.

Meh...if that were as large as it is played out to be there would be a purging in Europe. Everyone thinks Europe is failing to protect itself by allowing "an enemy" to use the EU's liberal tendencies against it. Everyone seems to forget that Europe has done some horendous $h!t to each other and to others for a number of reasons. If things were really out of hand, there would be serious consequences when the people rose up. It's not there yet. It just leads in the news. We'll know when it reaches that point. When the masses rise up because they are tired of being targetted and they realize that the establishment can't or won't protect them.
