Is it appropriate to wear your ASU to a Memorial Day event? Not a party but a town sponsored Memorial Day event.

I am just looking for some guidance. Personally think it would be fine. And under AR 670-1 it seems to be ok but I'd like some other feedback

- Short answer: yes, I think it is appropriate to wear ASU to a Memorial Day Event.
- Don't know what AR 670-1 says specifically.
- The purpose of Memorial Day events to is honor those service members who have given their life in service to our country. One way to honor that service is to wear your ASUs and be an example to the vast majority of Americans who have never served in the military and consequently really have no clue as to the sacrifices that service involves. They may understand it conceptually but it needs to be brought home in a real way for that sacrifice to be truly understood.

As long as it's not a political event masquerading as a Memorial Day event, it's okay.

I would say ASU is most appropriate for Memorial Day as has already been stated below by COL Jason Smallfield, PMP, CFM, CM LTC Jason Mackay. AR 670-1 generally answers all questions about uniforms and if not, then 600-20 likely does.
