I am waiting for the June Board Selection for the Chaplain Candidate Program for the army,

But, I am planning to travel outside of the US for some personal reasons from June to maybe mid-july. Is this okay?

and I was also wondering within how many days of selection, do I need to come back to the US to swear an oath for direct commission?

Call the chaplain corps. Look the attitude I would have is what are the hard dates. What are the dates I can not miss. Otherwise your plans might be FUBAR.

Jin Lee Once you put in a packet for military boards such as this, there is really nothing for you to do until the board proceedings are released. My go to saying is "Don't worry about shit you have no control over.". If you follow that, it will greatly lessen the amount of anxiety and stress in everything you do.

Going to the board in June does not mean much and your recruiter will have an idea when results are out and when you would need to commission. I would not imagine at this stage it would happen before mid-July. Something you need to keep in mind when traveling abroad that officers are required to keep a security clearance. Where you go, who you interact with, and why you went will always be looked at. My wife is Asian and even though we have been allied with the Philippines for over 100yrs and fought side by side, my last interview was far more detailed than any others.

I see, i heard that i need to wait for scrolling too, which can take about 2-3 months and then i can swear an oath.

I'm going to Turkey for mission trips. I will be just helping out with church that my home church (in the US) supports.
