Is it possible for an 88M to get the ASI of H8? Are 88M’s authorized to attend Recover Ops school at locations where they teach the course? I know it’s mainly for mechanics but I would like to know how operate the Wrecker and use proficiently. Plus an SFAB recruiter told me having that ASI when trying out for SFAB is something they’re looking for.

If you ever want to know the prerequisites for an MOS, ASI, or SQI, pull up the ATRRS course catalog and search for that class. Click the button that says view course prerequisites and it will list them

From my experience, you wouldn’t be able to. The only non mechanic MOS that I know of that can hold that ASI is 91E when they reach SSG. Even if you were to some how go, you wouldn’t be able to have the ASI on your SRB.

I wouldn’t think would send me if I couldn’t go, if I can’t get credit, or licensed on it to begin with then they wouldn’t send me period. But if I did sent to attend and I wasn’t supposed to Infeel the cadre/instructors would tell me from the get go

Do you have mechanic knowledge to fix vehicles if need be? There is a reason why it’s a mechanics ASI. Yes 88M can learn to operate a wrecker but can you fix it if something goes wrong? First assessment when recovering is figuring out If the problem can be fixed before recovery.

You would also need a waiver to go. Only MOS that can go to that school without one is 91B , A, H , E, S
