Is it possible for an Airborne qualified NCO but has never been to Airborne unit to be treated differently in a place like 82nd?

Initially, perhaps. My best advice is to attend JM school as soon as you meet the requirements.

It takes 12 jumps from high performance aircraft and a year on status (though rumor is that part can be waived by higher ups).

There is a Bragg Mafia, but just go and do your best, and soon you too will be part of the mafia.

SSG Timothy McCoy - You're right - we pull no weight around here at all! Just figured I'd yank your chain for a little humor around here. Things get too tense sometimes! Hope you're doing well, my friend!

Yo Hatrack, talking about being tense, don't you know it.
Just got back from an Airborne reunion and brought back 42 4 way pallets of bees from S.E. Texas. Trying to get all those girls situated has been tense to say the least.
Send me an address and I will give you some honey to put through your family still. It is pretty good that way.

Mac, that's a lot of dang bees! You getting ready to film a horror movie out there? When I get back to OK I will definitely hit you up for that honey. I like to eat a big spoonful every morning of local honey to help my allergies! Been doing it for many years here in Maryland, where allergies are nasty! I don't know if it really helps, but figure they'd be worse if I wasn't taking the honey. I keep a local beekeeper busy, though. Good luck wrestling them bees. I bet they're hard to lasso with those little bitty necks. You couldn't chase with a full-size horse - what do you use, one of those My Little Ponies?

The biggest thing is to not quit, keep your bitching to the right time and place, and just drive on/embrace the suck.

Welcome to the family first. Being Airborne is a proud badge to wear and I am positive you will enjoy every minute of your time in the 82nd.
There is a chance you will get some minor poking from your peers but don't expect much. It normally happens to those who are E4 and below. Just be a hard charging paratrooper and you will be perfectly fine. Someone else mentioned it here but make sure you learn the skill as quickly as possible. Seek out jumps when possible.

When I found out about this assignment my first concern was how often does 82nd jump in order to bring my jumps up and qualify for Jumpmaster school. Thanks for response SGM and it is my goal to gear up for jump when opportunity present itself even if it means jumping with different brigade if that is possible.

PVT (Join to see) - It all depends on the unit you are assigned to on how much you are going to be jumping. There are plenty of "fun jumps" that happen where you can get some jumping. So, you will have plenty of time. It will take you a bit to be able to go to Jumpmaster Course, but you will learn all about that. It is a good goal to seek that as quickly as possible, especially being part of the 82nd. It is expected of leaders that are assigned to the 82nd ABN Division.
