So the Air Force just updated the regs so that makes can wear earrings off duty but in base but how do you get them pierced and filled long enough to have them heal properly if you can't wear them on duty

MSG Dan Castaneda Roger. Thank you. I think it's important that leaders make it clear when they are sharing opinion versus policy/regulation. I am not suggesting that you are/were doing this, but sometimes I get the impression that clarification is intentionally skipped to achieve compliance with the opinion rather than what is actually authorized.

SSG (Anonymous) - It is not my personal experience. It is a recruiter and the entire recruiting chain that saw you, every single NCO, SNCO, and Officer in the recruiting process that laid eyes on you, MEPS, and boot camp chain blatantly disregarding an Army Regulation, does not stack up.

My dad wore a small gold hoop during WWII (a Navy thing). He was one of the youngest Pearl Harbor survivors. At 17yrs 3mon he was manning a 5” gun on his docked destroyer during the attack.later, he went in to fight in all of the major battles in the Pacific. He was also covered in tattoos.

Sgt Charles St John - Every branch is different. Not sure if it's changed but women in the Army could only wear earrings (posts only) if they were in the Class A's never in their duty uniform.

Things are tough all over Nicholas. Perhaps you should reconsider your need of an earring. It really will not do anything for you and may not be viewed favorably by seniors.

The duty of an NCO is to enforce compliance with the regulations...not opinion. If it's allowed, what I think about it is irrelevant.
