Is it possible to be picked up for promotion in SelCon after being passed over twice for promotion to MAJ?

I know a guy who was passed over twice for LTC stayed on as a MAJ and picked up LTC 3 years later. He was #1 on the promotion list.

Technically, yes, but there's only a 2.8% statistical chance.

If you have been passed over you may want to look into moving to the reserve. You can pick up rank and volunteer for tours to get to retirement.

It is possible, I’ve seen it a few times. But when compared to PZ selection (60-85%) and Above the Zone selection (5-30%) I’d say your chance are significantly reduced. It’s very hard to overcome and your timing has to involve some luck, meaning the needs of the Army has to change/increase. I recommend having an exit strategy. I’ve rarely seen someone who was SELCON to stay in long enough as a CPT to reach 20 years without significant prior enlisted service.
