Last drill myself and about 50 other joes were informed by SGM that we were being sent to line units from HHC. Is that even possible?

The Army Reserves has an obligation to keep you within a 50 mile radius of your HOR. If there is no unit within that 50 miles that has an open slot for your rank and MOS, then you must either re-class, or state in writing that you are willing to commute outside that 50 miles(recruiters have a pre-filled waiver for that purpose).

If those companies are not within the 50 miles, then they cannot force you to go. Furthermore, the SGM does not have the authority to make that decision. Only the Commander can. I have worked in both the BN and the BDE level, and have never run into such a thing.

OF course, if you are deploying, then they can send you to the companies for the duration of the deployment. Then they must accept you back into the HHC at the end of the deployment.

Of course it is possible, you go where the Army needs you. If the Army needs you to strap your boots tighter than you strap them tighter.

It is possible and I think it would definitely benefit soldiers (11B/19D) quite a bit. HHC are not always known for their discipline whereas line companies are more strict as they are the warfighters and HHC are support.

When it comes to "Needs of the Army" pretty much anything goes. Typically line units are better structured and more disciplined then HHC companies. Embrace it as a learning opportunity and go in with a positive attitude. You don't want to act disgruntled from day one just because you are out of your comfort zone.

Depending on your MOS, if there is a vacancy for that MOS in accordance with the Unit's TO&E, you can be reassigned to that position.

So long as you're MOS qualified for the slot they can move you wherever. It's not abnormal, especially in the guard, where a Battalion will put surplus strength that they have a plan to use in the HHC. I was technically in the HHC for a while, though I never spent a day there, because the Guard can game strength numbers and things when new units are being stood up or they're waiting for slots to open up in units. You'll actually find that as you advance in your career in The Guard, you may deliberately switch units in order to get promoted to an E5 or E6 slot.

Good luck at your unit, probably a bit tighter ship than HHC. Electricity and AC may be harder to come by. It'll be better for you though.

If they're being moved to line units within the BN then it's not a REORG move like some are guessing. What the BN might run into is making some Soldiers ineligible for their sign up bonuses. Even though you'll still be MOSQ, it isn't the PARA/LIN you were recruited into and that can pose a big problem down the line if not addressed initially. Especially with major shakeups.
