Is it possible to do an inter-service transfer to the Marine Corp at my current rank?

Is it possible to enlist in the marine Corp at my current rank? I’m an e3 in the US Army, I know that I must go through Marine Corp recruit training but I have heard mixed stories about the rank at which I would enter can someone shed some light on this?

The rank part is no. You will come out as a E-2. Unless you are company honorgrad from boot camp then you are a E-3 and that's not necessarily a given. You will pick up E-4 and E-5 at a faster rate because of your time in service. Your time in service will give you more points for your cutting score for promotion.
Your bigger issue is your medical. You need to see if the Marine Corps will take you back. I think you have a great chance at this because of your ability to recover and join the Army. However, I do not guarantee that. You need to talk to a recruiter and tell them the whole situation. I know it has always been some "saying" that after 2 years, you can return. It's like a catch all phrase. You need to make them tell you no. So have all your ducks in a row and go hard at it. If they tell you know then move on from there. Until they do, just keep putting your best foot forward and keep attacking. Best of luck to you.

Yes! Gunnery Sergeant thanks one last question as For my mos is there a chance to keep it as well? I want to remain an infantryman or will it still be Needs of the Marine Corp?

SPC (Join to see) The needs of the Corps. A few items to consider. Make sure your ASVAB score and line scores within, qualify you for 03XX. The Medical piece too. But I am sure that will be handled by MEPS. Last is the the amount of 03XX jobs available that Fiscal Year and they are divided up by recruiting districts to even out distribution around the nation. I believe it is still the one job specialty that most everyone wants. It is still completely possible. Your chances are good but, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Positive outlook and make them tell you no.

I went to marine Corp recruit depot 4 years ago and during the Crucible broke my leg and was discharged after that I attempted to rejoin the marines for a period of two years but due to the nature of the discharge I was not allowed to re-enlist at that point I still wanted to serve and with limited options available joined the army as an infantryman now I’m about to finish my contract and want to be what I always wanted to be a United States marine the motivation is still the same as 4 years ago my grand father is a retired marine my uncles was a Drill instructor and I want to continue that legacy now I know that sound cliche but it’s what feels right even now as an army soldier i still feel like I’m missing something now don’t get me wrong I feel proud of my army service I meet great people I made brothers in the army but it just never felt right

I got out of the Marines in 2016... as far as I know you might go in as PFC (e-2) not sure how it is now though

I’m not worried about the physical part I got a pretty good PFT I’ve done the Marine Corp pft and scored a first class PFT

If you were injured during the Crucible, that is the last event before graduation. Why were you not transferred to a medical company, then attend the event with a later platoon when you were healed? If you don't mind saying, what type of discharge did you receive? In any case, make sure that you have ALL your medical records (X-Rays, etc.) for your package as well as your 201 File from your previous command. If a recruiter gives you the brush-off because of the paperwork, find another who will help you. I have learned over the years that you can do almost anything in the military if you can find the correct form. Good luck

I was sent to a medical platoon MRP but upon a few follow ups the doctor commander Beckers recommendation was to discharge me

I’d go talk to a recruiter about it though, when I went through Parris Island in 2010 we had a kid came out as a LCpl, kid was older though, think he had some college and was shit hot. It also might have a been a meritorious promotion for being too recruit or something. But also, as Cliche as it sounds, If you wanna be a Marine, you join to be a Marine, not because of what you’ll get out of it.

I tried going back but they changed the Tattoo policy after I got out, so I was grandfathered in but I most likely never would have picked up SSgt.

Ask a Marine Recruiter. Depends on MOS vs. needs of the Corps. You might get guaranteed PFC (E2) out of Boot, but don't stay out long. If eligible for PFC, you could get LCpl if you really excel. Even without any guarantee, some graduate with a stripe. Maybe 10%. It's not a transfer either way, but a prior-service enlistment.
