Is it time to change the discussion format of Rallypoint?

The current method of just heaping a ton of stuff that is mostly non-searchable I think is starting to become unsuitable for RP based on the number of members. I don't think it has to change radically but perhaps a forum-like look as opposed to one topic heaped on another and bumped when popular might be better.<div><br></div><div>My evidence is this...in a regular forum atmosphere, there would probably have been one thread about the new AR 670-1 with many many pages. However, because there isn't a static forum look we had about 600 threads about the new AR, all saying about the same thing.</div><div><br></div><div>My other evidence is someone probably already posted this very same suggestion but it got lost in the 600 AR 670-1 threads and Fort Hood shooter threads.</div>

I really like the RallyPoint Discussions (or Answers, what ever you want to call it) feature. However, does anyone else agree that there should be some more organization to it? Currently, you can only browse the popular/recent discussions, and sifting through those can be tiresome. If RallyPoint implemented a forum-like feature, where topics could be separated and easily navigated through, I think discussions would have increased involvement, and people searching for specific topics to discuss would find things a lot easier.

SFC Jones, good observation and yes I believe there are actually other very similar discussions which does add to your original point. So, do you have any additional thoughts, details, or specific actions to take that would make for a more efficient system?

Well I think your typical vB bulletin style forum might be better. Think military.com or something else. It doesn't have to be super specific with a million sub-categories...but thread-style where people can more easily see topics, etc.
What we have here is the standard "new posts" feature from a regular forum, which is a great feature to use. I am a member of hundreds of forums and always use that feature - but in conjunction with something more organized.
Usually there is some off topic section (think the thread I saw where CSM was asking about sports teams), some general discussion section, maybe you could have a "job" section, a position swap section, and introduction section...just to name a few.
