Is retired life what you thought it was going to be?

I never thought it would be like this. I would have liked to be on the beach with shorts and flip flops enjoying my wife and grandkids!

I'm not truly "retired" from the workforce just yet, but I'm retired from the military. Being retired from the military is even better than I imagined. "Work" certainly doesn't feel like work. It's more fun that anything. I'll let you know about being "completely retired" in ~15 years.

Nope... Ranks right up there with my expectation of what I thought growing up would be like!!! LOL!

You got the growing up part right for sure! If we only knew at the time just how good we had it, no sickness or death. Just a good time being a kid!

I'm completely retired... and I never thought it would be this fun. However... I do miss being "needed" and being "part of the action" like I was when I served.

Thanks!! I blame it on my wonderful wife. Ever since we were married, one or both of us could have lost our jobs and she STILL would have been able to pay the bills for at least three months. I am very proud of the fact that I just gave her my paycheck every month (and still do) - and she gives me an allowance.
Crap, if I were in charge of finances, we would have been bankrupt several times over.
The key is being grown up enough to SEE your shortcomings... and I have always known I am horrible with money - and she's great with it.
