Is the destruction of the Marine Corps imminent?

No. For the record I'm getting tired of Millennials getting all pegged as fat lazy skinny jean wearing, ear gauged wannabe hippies. My millennial niece is a Navy Corpsman and millennial nephew is an Army Infantryman. My wife's millennial nephew was an 0311 in Falluja in 2004.

Were all Baby Boomers draft card burning, pot smoking, Canada bound hippies? Of course not. Many are Vietnam Vets who stood up and went and took a bite of the mother of all shit sandwiches.

Quite to the contrary, the recent gender integration brought about minimum standards in combat arms units that weren't present beforehand. While the integration piece is a hot topic in itself, I think all can agree that standard which weed out the weak benefits the institution as a whole. Keep in mind that democracy is a system of temporary losers and more conservative administrations will seek to give the military its teeth back.

No. The United States Marine Corps will last a thousand years or more after its valorous fight at Iwo Jima in 1945. We have Chosen Reservoir, Khe Sang, Beirut, Mosul, Khandahar, and many other battles known to man & God. The USMC is a proud organization, branded on the hearts of each Marine, and on my own heart for I earned my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on Aug. 20, 1993 at MCRD Parris Island.

The Marine Corps established its relevance during this Nation's infancy in turning back the Barbary Pirates; moreover, the Corps will adopt asymmetrical warfare to its distinctive arsenal.

It's been imminent for a long time.

The World today is a dangerous place that we have not seen in our life times. You have threats & major events that could escalate to the use of tactical weapons and armed forces. In such a potential threat to our homeland; the US Marines have and will continue to serve as a Corps of experts who are trained & inspired to take on these threats and seize their objective. The Marines have been at this for a lot of years and have honed their skills to be ready when called ..

To do away with any Branch of our military, we may as well "through in the towel" Each branch is individual, independent of the other with specific direction, however, WE are COLLECTIVE and necessary in order to accomplish the goal, provided WE are left alone to do the job !! All I can say is wow...I like Marines...I pick on them but when the feces hits the oscillating device they are fit and ready to fight...and like it. This kind of stuff is only going to deiminish tier fighting capability and that we cannot have.
