Is the dress blue uniform issued in NG after you graduate from AIT?

Is it the same uniform someone graduating from AROTC would have to buy when they commission as an Officer?

You should get issued ASUs at basic training and you will take them home with you for use in the NG. If you do ROTC, you will use those same ASUs as the dress uniform there (just a little bit differently). When you commission, you will have to either get your enlisted uniform altered or buy a new officer uniform because they are slightly different at the shoulder boards and have some other items sewn on the sleeves and pants.

The officer uniform has gold stripes on the pants and no shoulder straps on the coat since you wear the shoulder boards. Most cadets will purchase a new one for commissioning instead of having to convert your issue one. You could get one through AAFES or get a better quality through Marlowe White.

Thank you, sir! That is very helpful...I will plan to buy one when I commission (or ask for one for graduation!)

+1 on Marlowe White. If you can get the top of the line commissioning set from them as a graduation present, then do it. Much better quality that what you'll find at the Exchange. Leave plenty of time to have it fitted before you expect to have to wear it. If you are at the Woodbridge or Leavenworth stores, they can measure you there (but mine came out completely wrong anyway, requiring complete refitting when I received it in San Diego) but I would have a local tailor (familiar with military tailoring and the associated regulations) do the finish work so it fits properly. Bear in mind that getting the bullion shoulder straps and shoulder marks means that you will have to store them in the special bags MW sells to avoid having them tarnish prematurely. They look better, but aren't really necessary until you hit Field Grade (and even then, you'll see plenty of Officers wearing the nylon ones). Bear in mind that the pants are different for the Mess Dress (high waist), so when you get around to buying Blue Mess Dress, you'll be looking at a whole new ensemble (and the associated cost). With the Pink & Greens being phased in, that's yet another uniform to pay for, so it's going to add up. Plan accordingly.

Amusingly, hopefully, albeit unrelated, when I finished USAF OTS, we were all expected to actually buy our mess dress uniforms for our graduation...I just figured I'd chime that in, for whatever it might he worth....

Another reason why being an officer in the Army is the Cheapest at least uniform cost wise. Navy by far has the most dress and mess dress uniforms followed by Marines. The Airforve has all the dress and variety of utility uniforms to include Army ones when attached or working with their sister service;-)

I follow, I'd just thought I'd throw that out there, just as food for thought, as I'd said....
